Join the board of directors

Director Responsibilities

  • Attend board meetings (monthly), work sessions (as needed), and remote meetings (as needed).
  • Respond to member questions and concerns.
  • Select and support the Executive Director, including annual performance reviews.
  • Create and review CGFG policies.
  • Ensure CGFG programs and services address member needs.
  • Oversee CGFG budget and expenses to ensure financial accountability.
  • Work cooperatively with other organizations to support the tree fruit industry.
  • Act as an advocate for CGFG to the outside public.
  • Serve on at least one committee. 
  • Recruit and orient new board members.

Meeting Schedule

January – November board meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 PM. December annual membership meeting time and location differs each year.

Term Limits

Each board member can serve three consecutive 3-year terms. After serving three consecutive terms, board members must take at least one year off from the board before returning.

Nomination Process for Board Members

Members interested in joining the Board of Directors should review the position description, including qualifications, responsibilities, meeting schedule, etc. When a board seat is available for election, there are two ways for a CGFG member to be nominated for the position:

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee (Board of Directors) can invite members to run for an open seat. Nominees must complete and submit the Nomination Acceptance Form and Board Candidate Statement no later than October 15th to be included on the ballot.

Petition for Nomination 

Members can submit a Petition for Nomination and Board Candidate Statement no later than October 15th to be included on the ballot.
