WSDA Pesticide Licensing Information

Oregon, Washington, and Idaho’s pesticide licenses are reciprocal, meaning you can obtain your license in one state and transfer it to the other.
There are required forms you must submit to the state department of agriculture.

Reciprocal Licensing Guide
The Oregon Department of Agriculture’s guide to reciprocal licensing gives details about how to transfer your Washington or Idaho license to Oregon.

Reciprocal License Agreement Form
The ODA Reciprocal Licensing Form must be completed if you have a pesticide license from another state and want to obtain an Oregon pesticide license.

Out-of-State License and Enforcement History Form
This form is required for individuals seeking to obtain an Oregon pesticide license based upon their pesticide
license(s) from another state.

Private Applicator License Application
Reciprocal license applicants need to submit a Private Applicator License (PAL) Application Form.

No Social Security Number Form
If you do not have a social security number, you must submit a written statement to ODA attesting that when you apply for a reciprocal license.

Local, In-Person Test Prep Class
Local, in-person pre-license exam prep courses are available throughout the fall and winter in English and Spanish. Contact Hood River Soil & Water Conservation District for more details.

OSU Pesticide Safety Education Program
OSU PSEP’s Pre-Cert training program is available online or as a 2-day in-person workshop.
Online
Cost: FREE
A self-paced online version is available! Includes 11 modules, completed on your schedule. Once completed, you can go back to review any section. Modules can be completed on your schedule – estimated time to complete entire program is approximately 16 hours.
This training is NOT offered for continuing education credits for license-holders and is ONLY meant for those needing to prepare for the pesticide applicator exam.

In Person
Cost: $225 per person (includes food and printed study materials)
In-person trainings are offered each year at various locations throughout the state. Class size is capped at 40 to provide opportunities for peer learning and personalized instruction.

OSU’s Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) offers scheduled webinars, in-person classes, and on-demand remote options for anyone needing course credits toward license recertification.
